FAQs - Job Seekers

What is The College of Law Jobs Board?

The first stop on your search for work experience has to be The College of Law’s Jobs Board!

With more than 100 jobs from around the country at any one time, we have more opportunities available for law students that any other website in Australia.

In addition to the extensive network and profile that the College has within the legal industry that ensures access to the lastest placements, we actively source opportunities for our Jobs Board.

Help employers find your résumé

We provide a free service that allows our students to post their CV/résumé on the Jobs Board so that employers can search for candidates who match their criteria.

Please note that this service is only available to College students and graduates. You will need to add in your College ID number to use this service.

Work experience

Does work experience have to be paid?

Not necessarily. To quote the Fair Work Ombudsman.

“Unpaid work can include work trials, volunteer work, work experience and internships. It also includes a vocational placement as defined under the Fair Work Act 2009. Unpaid work is lawful if it is a genuine work experience, vocational placement or volunteering arrangement.”

Work experience undertaken as part of College PLT is a vocational placement and as such can be unpaid.

The College does not recommend or endorse any positions, nor does it check the position for compliance with the Fair Work Act or any state award legislation or the Work Experience Rules. It is up to the student and the prospective supervisor to satisfy themselves in this regard.
