We wish to welcome a Junior Migration Lawyer in our Sydney office. This position will suit the person who has a passion for helping clients and a desire to work in a busy and high performing organisation. You will be working as part of a small team with administrative and sales support, reporting directly to the principal lawyer/branch Manager. 

Main duties will include:

  • Provide migration agent and migration law advice
  • Call and meet with prospective clients
  • Ensure files are managed appropriately, as per procedure and as directed
  • Draft forms, applications and legal submissions for skills assessment, visa application and appeals
  • Appear in courts and tribunals as required
  • Keep file notes, forms and evidence on files as required by the Employer and Code of Conduct
  • Ensure timely and positive contact with clients throughout the lifetime of the file
  • Ensure you meet (or exceed) budgetary requirements from month to month (a normal “ramp up” period will apply)
  • Attend network functions and training seminars from time to time as requested
  • Undertake sales, marketing and promotional work as directed and required

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Unwavering commitment to providing exceptional client service
  • Migration Law experience (approximate 1 year) 
  • Current MARA registration or Practicing certificate in NSW.
  • Ability to form strong working relationships with clients
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work co-operatively and effectively within the team and the organisation
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, manage and meet deadlines and maintain a high quality of work
  • Highly motivated and target driven
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to deliver messages in ‘plain English’ and in a clear manner
  • The ability to speak a second language is desirable but not essential
