Junior Liability Loss Adjuster

Due to continuing growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a full time Junior Liability Loss Adjuster in our Melbourne office. While previous Loss Adjusting experience would be advantageous, we recognise the knowledge gained in other industries so welcome applications from those with qualifications in Law, Engineering and Science disciplines, as well as those from construction and manufacturing backgrounds.

Working as a Liability Loss Adjuster, you will enjoy  the art of investigation and will leverage your excellent communication skills to work with multiple parties to determine legal liability on a range of claims including construction, casualty, property and professional indemnity.

Your day-to-day role will be full of variety, attending the office and undertaking site visits to conduct any required investigations, as well as preparing accurate and succinct reports, presenting your evidence to the Insurer to enable them to make their decision. You will be involved in the full spectrum of the claim from appointment to negotiation and settlement and will also work closely with colleagues in other product lines as required.

The Role

Responsibilities include:

• Manage own portfolio of claims from appointment to settlement
• Attend site meetings as/when required to document claim assessment including capturing of evidence (e.g. site notes, photographs, videos, surveys)
• Proactively manage contractors in line with client service level agreements
• Complete documentation to update key stakeholders throughout the course of the claim (including reports, letters, loss management plans)
• Liaise with internal and external parties to ensure data integrity within business systems
• Research, analyse and interpret complex information from a range of sources, including legal contracts (such as policy wordings and leases)
• Compile and maintain data spreadsheets, as well as reconcile invoices to monitor claim costs
• Provide excellent customer service to key stakeholders using a variety of methods (from site visits, emails, phone, remote meetings) to deliver outcomes on claims
• Complete both desktop and on-site investigations (requiring regular travel, possibly interstate)
• Assist with marketing and account management for key clients
• Undertake projects and other ad hoc work as required.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

• Tertiary qualification in Law, Engineering, Science or similar, or relevant work experience in any of these or other disciplines such as construction or manufacturing.
• 2+ years’ experience in relevant discipline

Desirable:

• Previous experience in the insurance industry would be advantageous but not required
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated investigation and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritise and manage own workload to achieve competing demands
• Proven ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, negotiate effectively and work through conflict constructively
