Job Description

Job summary
To provide a high level of professional legal knowledge on private client work with a focus on estate planning, estate administration and estate litigation.  

Key responsibilities

  • Apply legal knowledge on matters relating to:
    - Estate planning
    - Estate administration
    - Estate litigation 
  • Draft a range of documents including Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Trust documents and Court documents
  • Professional knowledge and expertise - maintain a contemporary knowledge in practice area by completing a minimum of 10 CPD units per year
  • Quality of work produced – produce work with a minimum of errors
  • Financial - display consistency in performance to include meeting all budgets, time and efficient WIP management
  • File management - be clearly compliant with all Service Excellence policies and procedures
  • Client Service - show a high level of attention, treatment and timely service to clients to include assisting clients where possible via telephone and in person and in meeting all deadlines
  • People Skills & Participation - display honesty, trust and integrity in all your dealings and show a commitment to your job and to the firm
  • Management - effectively manage your Legal Assistant
  • Business Development – be involved in business development activities where appropriate.

Person Specification 
- Must be detail focused, deadline driven and able to work under pressure
- Willingness to learn
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrates a developing knowledge of relevant legislation and legal principles, and standard documentation

Qualifications and Experience 
- Has completed, or will complete within the next 6 months, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree and plan to complete a Practical Legal Training Course leading to admission as a lawyer
- Completion of succession law, property law, trusts law and taxation law electives as part of Bachelor Degree or Practical Legal Training Course is preferred and will be looked upon favourably
- Practical experience gained from working in a wills and estates team in a law firm is preferred and will be looked upon favourably
