About the role

You will be joining a dedicated and professional victims of crime team assisting applicants access the services and support available to them through VOCAT. The team is critical to ensure that victims are not denied the opportunity to obtain assistance with counselling, medical and other expenses related to injury and loss suffered as a result of the crime committed.

This voluntary vocational work experience role provides training and exposure to key areas such as:

  • client engagement
  • file management
  • briefing counsel
  • drafting correspondence
  • evidence preparation and;
  • court procedures.

Exposure to other areas of law such as personal injury, migration and debt recovery will also be available.

About you

Our clients are victims of violent crime. Applicants will need to be prepared to come alongside these people and help them navigate VOCAT as one small part of their recovery.

You will need compassion, resilience and excellent administrative and communication skills.

Given the life cycle of VOCAT matters, this opportunity would suit a PLT student seeking a 75 day placement.
