I am looking for an enthusiastic Junior to join my criminal law practice.
My barrister sole practice engages with defendants facing a range of serious criminal charges. This role will give you a great opportunity to develop your criminal litigation skills through regular appearances in Courts around Auckland and interaction with prosecution agencies. You will also assist with client management and meetings, preparation of files, drafting submissions and legal research.
This role will involve a high level of trust in you to get on with the tasks assigned to you. You must be ethical and responsible and have a strong desire to promote the interests of justice.
Applicants currently completing their professional legal studies or a newly admitted lawyer with experience, though not necessarily in criminal practice, is preferred.
The successful Applicant will need to have a genuine passion for criminal litigation and a strong motivation or pursue a career as a criminal barrister.
You will need to have:
· document management skills;
· time management skills,
· ability to work under pressure;
· strong communication and advocacy skills,
· strong written and legal research skills;
· good people skills; and
· ability to think on their feet.
