About the role
Principal Responsibilities:
- Instigate and have the conduct of legal proceedings;
- Will work together with the Team leader to achieve KPI.
- No carriage of matters.
- Provide comprehensive legal advice on a wide range of legal matters;
- Preparation and management of matters associated with personal injury. This will include, but is not limited to: draft legal documents and correspondence, file management, contact with clients, court hearings, conferences and teleconferences & views;
- Brief Counsel as appropriate;
- Taking initial client inquiries
- Settlement monies
- Booking medical appointments
- Arranging counsel conferences
- Barrister calls
- Conference with solicitor
- Informal settlement conferences.
- Assist with preparation for district court hearings
- Undertake other administrative work as required
- Liaison with other staff / principal;
- Business development support: new client generation and follow up;
- Interpreting services (dependent on capabilities).
- Complete and submit daily timesheets in a timely and accurate manner;
- Maintenance of key dates / milestones relating to matters;
- Reporting on matters as required;
- Other duties may include diary management, reviewing and developing internal processes, contribute to precedent development, maintaining accurate and up-to-date legal files, managing meetings, handling confidential information, training support staff and other administration duties as required
- Full time, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm with 1 hour lunch break.
- Immediate start.
- Located in Parramatta.
Requirements:
- Recently admitted as a NSW Solicitor.
- Experienced in Plaintiff Workers Compensation matters.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Advanced communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal/people skills.
- High level of organisational skills.
- High level of customer focus.
- Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Able to cope with demanding and varied activities with a proven ability to work effectively under tight deadlines to meet urgent demands.
- Flexibility to perform tasks within a broad spectrum of activities.
- Comfortable dealing with people at all levels.
- Work as an integral team member encouraging cooperation within the team.
- Work persistently to meet and exceed requirements of the job.
