Job Description

An excellent opportunity exists for a 3rd to 4th year law student to join our highly regarded Industrial Relations & Employment team in our Brisbane/Sydney offices as a research clerk.

 

In this role you will develop your legal acuity, legal research skills, legal drafting skills, learn about court processes and learn to use the tools of legal practice, including document management systems, time recording, file notes, etc.

 

The primary focus of the role is the conduct of legal research on files for lawyers. You will respond to requests from lawyers to complete legal research, drafting and other tasks to meet strict deadlines.  The successful candidates will be mentored by experienced legal professionals in the field.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a team of legal professionals, conducting legal research on their files and developing your practical legal skills. The teams take a collaborative and supportive approach in the provision of legal services to a diverse range of clients consisting of both individuals and organisations.

 

 

 

The requirements

  • You will be a 3rd or 4th year law student with a desire to build a career as an Employment & Industrial Relations Lawyer.
  • You will have good legal research and drafting skills and the potential to develop these further.
  • You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels with confidence to clarify instructions and provide sound advice, based on your research.
  • To effectively respond to requests to complete legal research, drafting and other tasks you will demonstrate excellent time management skills, accountability, initiative, and an ability to prioritise competing demands to meet strict deadlines.
  • You will be flexible and open to direction and guidance. You will be a quick learner, taking on board feedback and being able to quickly move between different tasks as required.
