Expressions of Interest Sought
EOI - Adjunct Lecturers - PLT/GDLP (WA)
The College of Law Western Australia is looking to engage Independent Contractors to conduct online student assessments, facilitate on-site and/or online skills intensives and conduct online courses in our Practical Legal Training (PLT) Program in 2026, with training likely to be scheduled in late January 2026.
We invite expressions of interest from suitably qualified legal practitioners. Engagement in these “adjunct” roles will be on an as-needed and when-required basis. Practitioners interested in taking on course lecturer roles are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Practical Legal Training (PLT) Program at the College provides post-graduate training in the practical application of the law and in legal practice. Completion of the Program leads to the award of a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. The course targets the competencies required of an entry level lawyer and meets the PLT requirements for admission to legal practice. The College provides the required competency training in different modes to satisfy the needs of its students.
Assessor Roles
Assessments are conducted on a continual basis throughout the year via online web-conferences in 1-hour duration for compulsory subjects and 45 minutes duration for elective subjects, across a range of 12 practice areas. Assessors are usually engaged on a half or full day basis. Assessments can be done from the Lecturer’s home or workplace. Lecturer guides and assessment rubrics are provided.
Workshop Facilitator Roles
The College of Law delivers full-time and part-time PLT programs. Each program includes a professional skills intensive, which consists of a series of half day and all-day workshops delivered on-site at our Perth CBD Campus or online via Zoom. These skills intensives run over 1 week, Monday to Friday or in the evening, for 2 nights per week over 6 weeks.
The workshops cover a variety of practical skills, including interviewing, negotiation, legal writing and drafting, and a 2-day advocacy workshop. We welcome expressions of interest from practitioners who can contribute to one or more sessions.
Course Lecturer Roles
Following the professional skills intensive, the PLT program continues with an online course delivered over 15 weeks (full-time) or 30 weeks (part-time). These programs commence approximately monthly throughout the year.
Course lecturers are responsible for providing guidance to students on their coursework, providing feedback on coursework submissions, assisting with general student administration, and mentoring students throughout their course. Lecturer guides are provided by the College. Work can be done remotely and attendance at the College is not required other than for some initial training. You will be able to access College tools and resources online and the work can be done outside of office hours.
The requirements
We are currently looking to engage a number of adjunct lecturers for our lecturer pool in the Western Australia Practical Legal Training program. Teaching would be on an as-and-when-required basis and both face-to-face and online. This is an opportunity to work flexibly as part of a dynamic and highly engaged team.
Applicants must meet the following essential criteria for engagement:
Adjunct lecturers are engaged as independent contractors and must have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
