Are you looking to complete your PLT in a rewarding environment?
Who are we?
Consumer Credit Legal Service (WA) Inc. is a not-for-profit community legal centre that specialises in credit law and the Australian Consumer Law, particularly assisting those who are disadvantaged and experience barriers to accessing justice.
Our PLT program is highly regarded by students as excellent preparation to working in legal practice. However, due to the capacity of CCLSWA, we can only take a limited number of volunteers at any one time throughout the year.
What would I do?
What do I need?
You will need to have a passion for community service and an LLB or Juris Doctor graduate degree with a strong academic record. You must be able to commit to at least 3 days per week until your PLT has been completed.
Why should I do it?
Get some valuable experience in a real legal environment. Gain new skills and improve your CV.
“Don’t limit your career goals to working in a big corporate firm ... do so much more than just focusing on profits and billable hours and provide an essential service to those in need.” – Damon, PLT Volunteer
“The opportunity to directly interact with clients and draft advice has been incredibly valuable. I have learnt how to talk to clients, what questions to ask clients and inadvertently improved my interviewing skills. Also, the team is amazing – everyone is amazingly nice and wants to help us learn!” – Shannon, Volunteer Paralegal
