Job Description

Central Coast Community Legal Centre (CCCLC) is seeking full-time or part-time volunteers wishing to complete their practical legal training in a busy generalist practice that provides free legal services to people living, working or studying on the Central Coast.  These are unpaid positions.

You must:

  • Have completed or be close to completing College of Law, or its equivalent at a participating university;
  • Ideally be able to work at least 2 days a week and
  • Attend a compulsory two-day General Orientation and Intake Training.

Scheduled 2018 orientation dates are:

  • 30th April and 1st May 2018
  • 2nd July and 3rd July 2018
  • 3rd and 4th September 2018
  • 5th and 6th November 2018

Applications aimed for particular orientation dates should be submitted at least three weeks prior.  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and assessed on relevant skills as well as a demonstrated interest in and commitment to not-for-profit organisations and the community sector.  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are highly encouraged to apply.  Preference will be given to candidates who live on the Central Coast and candidates who want to complete at least 45 days with CCCLC.

Email your resume and academic transcript to  contact@centralcoastclc.org.au

During your placement with CCCLC you can expect to be exposed to a wide range of legal matters, including debt, fines, family, employment, discrimination, motor vehicle accidents, Apprehended Violence Orders and more!

You will gain experience in providing legal information and referral services by telephone, interviewing clients, attending outreach locations, drafting legal letters and court documents, undertaking legal research, developing community legal education materials, engaging in community development and participating in systemic advocacy.

Based in Wyong NSW, CCCLC provides free legal advice to homeless people at Coast Shelter in Gosford; to disadvantaged people at Toukley Neighbourhood Centre and to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders at Mingaletta at Umina.  We advise unrepresented litigants in Traffic and AVO matters at Wyong Local Court and operate a Children’s Court Assistance Scheme at Wyong, Woy Woy and Broadmeadow Children’s Courts.

 Become a part of our friendly and committed team of volunteers who work together to provide access to justice to the people who really need it most on the Central Coast
