Full-time PLT Work Experience Placement

Job Description

Mission Australia Legal is currently offering an opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven and motivated law student or graduate to gain work experience in order to complete mandatory PLT requirements.

The Mission Australia Legal Department exists to meet the business needs of the organisation on legal issues, negotiation strategy and risks, corporate governance, approval processes and Mission Australia policies and procedures. 

As a PLT student within Mission Australia’s dynamic legal team, you will receive valuable in-house legal experience and develop practical and procedural legal experience and skills across various practice areas including commercial law, litigation, property law, intellectual property and privacy.  You will develop fundamental legal skills through active mentoring from highly experienced lawyers.

What the role entails:

  • reviewing and drafting a variety of legal documents including commercial contracts, service agreements, funding agreements, MOUs
  • a variety of general commercial work including legal research, analysis and problem solving
  • administrative and legal tasks
  • potential for site visits to our services with members of the legal team

What is required from you: 

  • completion of law degree (or will be graduating in December 2018)
  • basic computer skills
  • strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • good attention to detail and time management skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to handle a high-volume workload of multiple matters with various stakeholders
  • ability to listen, learn and participate in a team environment
  • a confident, positive and professional attitude

It would be preferable if you are available to work a minimum of 3 days a week.  We have a required minimum of 60 days for the placement.
