Job Description

We are offering practical positions for students who are interested in working in criminal law and growing their career in this field of law. You will be exposed to various elements of the law firm, including assisting our Principal Solicitor, Associates and Barristers on active files, including:

  • Appearing with Barristers in District and Supreme Court Jury trials and assistance in cross-examination of witnesses
  • Appearing with Barristers and Senior Solicitors in Local Court hearings and assisting with witnesses
  • Appear in matters yourself at Court with the help of our Senior Solicitors
  • Attending courts with our Solicitors and Barristers to learn the skills of advocacy 
  • Preparing and helping with bail applications and general administration of the office

You will gain hands on experience and be mentored by experienced Criminal Law practitioners and the Principal of the firm who is an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law.

Every student that has participated in the PLT program at our firm has gone into full-time employment at firms such as Turks Legal, Legal Aid NSW, Cth DPP, NSW DPP and the like. Employment at the practice may also be available. 

You must:

  1. Have a strong understanding and interest in Criminal Law,
  2. Be competent, efficient and organised,
  3. Have a friendly personality,
  4. Be able to commit to at least 4 days per week, and
  5. Must have finished University, or in your last semester or about to do College of Law.
