Part-time PLT Work Experience Placement

Job Description

The Benevolent Society in-house legal team is seeking passionate and enthusiastic PLT students to work in our Glebe office. The Benevolent Society is Australia’s first charity with a vision of a just society where everyone lives their best life. The Benevolent Society’s work involves supporting children, families, older Australians and carers and people with disability.

As a PLT student, you’ll be supporting the in-house legal team and have exposure to:

  • a broad range of legal work involving contracts, subpoenas, intellectual property, privacy, human rights;
  • our organisation-wide legal education programme and participate in podcasts, webinars and workshops;
  • a broad range of pro bono projects centred around social justice and human rights that we collaborate with our panel law firms; and
  • the in-house pro bono project involving a Sydney inner city health justice collaboration.

The Benevolent Society in-house legal team adopts a rights-based approach to the practice of law.

We are seeking a minimum of 2 placements to commence in July 2019 to work 2 – 3 days per week for a minimum of 3 months. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. These positions are unpaid.

We will assess applications based on skills, experience and level of interest in social and community issues.
