Urban Family Lawyers

We are currently offering a work experience placement, with our firm based in Riverwood in the Georges River area of Sydney.

This a voluntary position on a part time basis – 2 days per week. This would be ideal for a law graduate who requires work experience as a component of Practical Legal Training (PLT).

Our primary focus lies in family law, however, you will gain some exposure to Wills and Estates matters and conveyancing.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting solicitors at court attendances,
• Answering phone calls;
• Assisting our solicitors with drafting court documents and correspondence,

• File management and preparation of briefs for hearing
• drafting letters and other legal documentation such as chronologies, case outlines and other materials

• Reviewing documents,
• Undertaking legal research,
• Drafting articles, and
• General administrative tasks.

The successful candidate will have;

• A keen interest in family law,
• Excellent attention to detail,
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, An ability to follow instructions,
• Empathy and compassion,
• Social media presence; and
• A willingness to help and assist clients and staff with any tasks as required.

At the end of your experience you will learn how to draft simple documents, use legal software and programs, have courtroom and litigation exposure, increasing your skills and future employability.
