The role is based in Perth and focusses on the general federal law jurisdiction.  The Deputy Associate is part of a small team who assist the Judge in the day-to-day management of Chambers and Court. This role also assists with the preparation of Court materials for the judge and involves undertaking legal research and assisting with judgment preparation as required. Purpose of position The Associate is part of a small team assisting a Judge in the day-to-day management of Chambers and Court. The position of Associate is responsible for providing a high level of administrative support to the Judge and to supervise and delegate tasks to the Deputy Associate. Key Responsibilities and Duties Day-to-day running of chambers including responding to enquiries. Supervise the work of the Deputy Associate.  Assist the Judge to manage the docket by preparing and managing matters waiting for hearing. Position Duties  The primary role of Legal Associates is to support and assist judges of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1), which is a Federal Court of superior record that exercises jurisdiction exclusively in Family Law. Legal Associates assist in researching cases, points of law, preparing matters for hearing and other related matters for judges sitting at first instance and/or in Appeals. Legal Associates are responsible for providing assistance to judicial officers during court hearings and other administrative support to judges, as required.  In addition, Legal Associates perform court support duties.
