Bayside Community Legal Service

The Bayside Community Legal Service is a not-for-profit, nationally accredited Community Legal Centre. The Centre provides the community with professional free legal advice,  assistance, mediation services and general referrals. Our services are provided at the Wynnum Community Centre located on the 1st Floor, 105 Florence Street, Wynnum.

Community Legal Centres (CLCs) were first established in response to concerns about the lack of available legal advice and information to members of the community without the financial capacity to access legal services, with our service commencing operations in 1992. CLCs have continued to grow and develop over the years through the commitment of a large group of volunteers. The funding program for CLCs is managed by Legal Aid, Queensland on behalf of the Commonwealth and State Governments. CLCs have been established in more than 30 locations across the State and also operate in each of the States and Territories in Australia.

The core service activities undertaken by the Bayside Community Legal Service are the provision of general legal advice, assistance, mediation, information and referral. The Centre is incorporated under the Association Incorporation Act and is overseen by the Management Committee, who are responsible for the proper management and operations of the service in accordance with its funding agreement, constitution, policies, procedures and that legislative and insurance requirements are met.

Management Committee meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Wynnum Community Centre with members being elected at Annual General Meeting.

The Bayside Community Legal Service Inc. is aligned with community legal services across Queensland and around Australia and is accredited by the National Association of Community Legal Services (NACLC).  The NACLC logo and trademark as seen on our website identify centres endorsed by the NACLC who are:

    • Members of their respective state and territory associations
    • Members of the group insurance scheme and comply with risk management and financial management standards
  • Subject to quality peer review
