DeLancey Legal is a Melbourne based firm with a practice involving the jurisdictions of Victoria, the Commonwealth and Western Australia. We also operate a remote practice in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Our main practice areas of law involve: Family Law, Migration Law, Contract Law, Consumer Law and some other areas of general practice. We are a progressive law firm and like to do things a little bit different, often working remotely with clients by way of teleconference or telephone, and between ourselves. We are growing and are looking for committed individuals who want to learn and immerse themselves in the law during their PLT placement. Work will include drafting of legal letters, affidavits, initiating applications, submissions and the like. You will be under the direct supervision of the Firm's Directors who will provide guidance, mentoring, and hopefully a lifelong association and friendship. Both directors of the Firm are later lawyers.
One of our practitioners is a Collaborative Practitioner, working in the Family Law space, where we attempt to preserve relationships and resolve client issues by way of an engaging and flexible process in the best interests of children and the parties. Often joint meetings will involve psychologists, accountants or financial advisors, the legal representatives and the parties.
We are involved in litigation and lots of hands on experience will be gained from a PLT placement with us. As well as the usual legal work, you will have an opportunity to attend Court and Tribunal Appearances gaining essential practical experience in the areas of negotiation and advocacy for your clients.
This is a PLT position, particularly for the standard format of 75 days. We hope to give PLT students a great start to their legal career and an opportunity to do real 'hands on' experience with the guidance and mentoring needed in what can be a tough industry to get your first gig.
We are based remotely in both Melbourne and Traralgon with virtual offices and outposts in Niddrie, Ringwood and Camberwell. As we grow, we are looking to take on an office or co-working space near the CBD, Port Melbourne or inner north Melbourne area, where we are able to guide and mentor you in a centralised location.
