The Department of Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.
NSW Trustee & Guardian are appointed by a court or tribunal to act as financial manager to over 11,000 people with disability that affects their capacity to make decisions. The organisation also delivers planning ahead services for people to make their Will, Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship Appointments. In our trustee role, NSW Trustee & Guardian also acts as an independent and impartial executor, administrator and/or trustee and attorney. The Public Guardian, through court or tribunal appointment, makes health and lifestyle decisions for people with a decision making disability, while also promoting the rights and interests of people with disability.
