Job Description

Spirit Legal is a Wills & Estates law firm located in Clyde North, Victoria. It is run by a sole practitioner, Caroline Jeanne, and assists clients across Australia with their wills, estates, probate and trusts matters. We handle Court applications for Grants across Australia, and complete deceased estate property work in Queensland and Victoria. Our clientele ranges from the everyday Australian who has never engaged a lawyer, to astute business professionals managing trusts and corporations. We are invested in our community and like to give-back with frequent volunteer legal services.

A bit about Caroline

I am a sole practitioner and have been a lawyer for over 10 years now in Victoria. I have worked at small, medium, top tier, and start-up law firms. I have three young children who keep me busy outside of work. I love my practice in Wills and Estates law - I love the planning aspects but also the way I get to connect with people about what is most important to them. I started Spirit Legal earlier in 2025 and have now opened my own office (goodbye working from home!) and look forward to growing the firm in the next few years.

What the role looks like

We need another pair of hands to help us grow our business and ensure our clients receive the best quality service. This PLT role will see you:

  1. Speak with potential new clients on the telephone;
  2. Speak with existing clients via telephone and email;
  3. Witnessing documents with lawyers;
  4. Drafting email correspondence to clients, Courts, opposing parties, and third-party asset holders;
  5. Preparing briefs to counsel;
  6. Assisting with paper filing and document management;
  7. Taking file notes during client meetings;
  8. Legal research when required;
  9. Drafting legal and non-legal documents;
  10. Preparing PEXA workspaces; and
  11. Miscellaneous administrative tasks to help the office run smoothly.

The role will assist you in meeting your requirements for PLT and ensuring you have the best start to your legal career with hands on, real life experience. You will be fully supervised and have full access to guidance and support throughout the course of the role.

Please note that the role is unpaid at this stage, and we are able to accommodate flexible plans and structures to fit around your existing study and/or work commitments.

The role is based in person, onsite at our office in Clyde North. There are no stairs in the building and we have a dedicated elevator to our floor. Our office includes a private bathroom and kitchenette for your use.

What we are on the lookout for

We need someone who is punctual, honest, friendly and willing to give things a go. We are expecting you to be eager to learn - there is zero expectation that you are a Wills and Estates know-it-all! We are looking for someone who is willing to ask questions, take feedback, take notes and improve themselves as a junior in the legal industry.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, ages, cultures and abilities.
