PLT / Junior Lawyer (0–2 Years PAE)

Are you a motivated law graduate or junior lawyer looking to build your career in a supportive, hands-on and fast-paced general practice? August Legal & Associates is seeking a recent law graduate or junior lawyer (0–2 years' post-admission experience) to join our growing team on either a full-time or part-time basis (PLT Placement is minimum three days per week, the Junior lawyer role is a full-time position). 

Based in Sydney's Inner West, August Legal & Associates is a results-focused general practice committed to delivering practical, compassionate and client-focused legal services. Our practice spans family law, criminal law, civil litigation, property law and migration law, providing an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience across multiple areas of law.

About the Role

As part of our close-knit team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience across a broad range of legal matters.
  • Work closely with the Principal Solicitor in court, client conferences and day-to-day legal practice.
  • Draft correspondence, court documents, legal submissions and other legal documents.
  • Develop your advocacy, client management and file management skills.
  • Receive mentoring and ongoing professional development within a growing practice.
  • Make a genuine difference by helping clients navigate challenging legal issues.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A recent law graduate or lawyer with up to two years' post-admission experience.
  • Passionate about developing a long-term career in private practice.
  • An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Well organised, proactive and attention to details.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • Professional, empathetic and committed to delivering high-quality client service.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in a second language is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Previous experience in private practice or general practice is highly regarded but not essential.
  • To apply for the junior lawyer role, you must have at least one year of demonstrated PQE in family law and/or criminal law. Experience in other areas of law will also be considered.
