August Legal & Associates is a growing general practice law firm based in Inner West Sydney. We are currently seeking a motivated Practical Legal Training (PLT) student to join our team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a law graduate completing their PLT to gain hands-on experience in private practice, working directly with the Principal Solicitor across a range of matters. Importantly, there may be an opportunity for ongoing employment as a Graduate Lawyer following completion of PLT and admission, subject to performance and the needs of the firm.

About the Role

As a PLT student at August Legal, you will gain practical experience across a broad range of matters including: Family law disputes and parenting/property proceedings; Criminal and traffic matters; Civil and commercial litigation; Property and conveyancing transactions; General legal practice and client management.

You will have the opportunity to: assist with legal research and drafting; Prepare court documents and correspondence; Observe and assist with court appearances; Attend client conferences and Gain exposure to real litigation matters.

This placement is designed to provide meaningful practical experience in a busy litigation-focused practice.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone who is:

-       Has completed or is close to completing an Australian law degree (LLB or Juris Doctor)

-       Eligible to be admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales upon completion of PLT

-       Currently undertaking or about to commence Practical Legal Training (PLT)

-       Available 3–4 days per week

-       Highly organised and detail-oriented

-       Possesses strong legal research and drafting skills

-       A team player with excellent communication skills

-       Well-organised, responsible and eager to learn

-       Demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, and a client-focused approach

Prior experience in a law firm or exposure to family law, criminal law, or litigation will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Career Pathway

August Legal values developing junior lawyers. Where appropriate, PLT students who demonstrate strong capability and commitment may be considered for ongoing employment as a Graduate Lawyer following admission.
