Lawyer / Associate / Senior Associate

Job Description

We are seeking construction lawyers with varying levels of experience to join our award‑winning, growing and highly collaborative team. This role is primarily based in Brisbane, QLD, with flexibility to work remotely. We genuinely embrace flexible work practices and welcome applications from lawyers seeking part‑time arrangements or those returning to the workforce.

In this role, you will work closely with CLG’s senior lawyers to deliver high‑quality legal services to a wide range of clients in the construction industry. Ideally, you will have experience in residential and/or commercial construction matters, along with strong knowledge of the QBCC Act, the BIF Act and relevant regulations—or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge. Alternatively, experience in commercial litigation in Queensland.

With Brisbane’s infrastructure and development pipeline expanding in the lead‑up to the 2032 Olympics, we are advising clients on an exciting and diverse range of high‑value projects.

Your work may include:

  • contract reviews and drafting, risk assessment for both residential and commercial construction projects and contract administration

  • advice on QBCC issues including complex licensing advices, internal and external reviews of QBCC decisions, advice on non-conforming building products, responding to notices regarding statutory breaches

  • advice under the BIF Act, including subcontractors' charges and adjudication

  • dispute resolution on complex residential and commercial projects

  • representing clients in QCAT and the Courts

Required Qualifications

  • all years of post-admission legal experience will be considered 

  • excellent analytical and communication skills

  • strong attention to detail and organisational skills

  • demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team

  • high-level problem-solving skills

  • admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia

  • a high level of integrity and professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing quality service to clients

  • experience in construction law is preferred but may not be essential for outstanding candidates
