The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a motivated Legal Intern / PLT Trainee to join our Melbourne office. This opportunity is well suited to a law student, recent graduate, or Practical Legal Training candidate with a genuine interest in civil litigation and a desire to gain exposure to matters conducted in various courts and tribunals across multiple Australian jurisdictions.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a busy law firm and to work closely with legal practitioners on a broad range of contentious matters.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate may assist with:

• legal research and case law analysis;
• drafting correspondence, court documents, and submissions;
• reviewing briefs, evidence, and other litigation materials;
• file management and preparation of matter chronologies;
• attending to general litigation support tasks;
• assisting solicitors with matters before courts and tribunals in different jurisdictions; and
• other administrative and legal support work as required.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

• a strong interest in civil litigation;
• good legal research and drafting skills;
• strong attention to detail and organisational ability;
• the ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
• a professional and courteous manner;
• willingness to learn and take initiative; and
• eligibility to undertake a PLT placement, or a genuine interest in undertaking an internship in a litigation-focused practice.
