Practical Legal Trainee (PLT) Part Time - 2 days/week

Job Description

We are currently offering a volunteer Practical Legal Training (PLT) placement to a motivated and capable law student/graduate seeking to complete their PLT requirements. This is a unique opportunity to work directly under the supervision of the firm’s Director and to gain hands-on, practical experience across multiple areas of law including family law, criminal law and property law.

  • Assistance with the drafting of legal documents such as affidavits, court applications, and consent orders

  • Attending and taking notes at client conferences

  • Conducting legal research 

  • Liaising with courts, clients, and third parties

  • Assisting in conveyancing transactions and settlements

  • Supporting in criminal matters, including brief preparation 

  • General administrative and legal support tasks

  • Observing matters in Court and file noting

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Currently undertaking or about to commence a PLT program

  • Strong interest in family law or criminal law

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Professional, organised, and proactive approach

  • High level of discretion and attention to detail

  • Part-time only - 2 days per week (Monday and Wednesday preferred, but flexible).

Pathway to Employment:
This placement is unpaid; however, successful candidates may be offered a paid position upon completion of the PLT, subject to performance and operational needs.
