About Renee Roumanos Legal

Renee Roumanos Legal is a modern, multidisciplinary law firm committed to providing practical legal advice without the jargon.

Our firm assists individuals, families and businesses across a range of practice areas, including family law, commercial law, property and conveyancing, estate planning, estate administration and litigation.

We pride ourselves on doing law differently. Our approach is professional, compassionate and solutions-focused. We take the time to understand our clients, explain their options clearly and guide them through important legal and commercial decisions with confidence.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Solicitor to join our growing team, with a primary focus on family law and commercial law.

This position is suited to a confident and compassionate solicitor who can manage matters autonomously while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary practice.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of their files, contribute to the growth of the firm and help mentor and develop junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

The role will include:

  • Managing family law matters, including parenting, property settlement, divorce, financial agreements and consent orders;

  • Advising and representing clients in negotiations, mediation, dispute resolution and court proceedings;

  • Preparing court documents, affidavits, correspondence and written legal advice;

  • Managing commercial law matters, including business sales and purchases, shareholder and partnership arrangements, commercial agreements, leases and contractual disputes;

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and other legal documents;

  • Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice;

  • Managing files, deadlines, billing and client expectations independently;

  • Working collaboratively with the firm’s property, estate planning and other practice teams;

  • Identifying opportunities to provide clients with comprehensive, multidisciplinary legal support;

  • Supervising and mentoring junior solicitors, paralegals and support staff where required;

  • Participating in business development, professional education and the ongoing improvement of the firm’s systems and precedents; and

  • Maintaining the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality and professional conduct.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A current Australian practising certificate;

  • At least five years’ post-admission experience, although strong candidates with comparable experience will be considered;

  • Demonstrated experience in family law, commercial law or both;

  • Experience managing matters with minimal supervision;

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, advocacy and problem-solving skills;

  • A sound understanding of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth), relevant court procedures and applicable commercial legislation;

  • Excellent organisation and file-management skills;

  • Strong professional judgement and attention to detail;

  • The ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and without unnecessary jargon;

  • A genuine commitment to client care and achieving practical outcomes;

  • A collaborative and respectful approach to working within a team; and

  • An interest in contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm.

Experience in property law, estate planning, estate administration or general litigation will be highly regarded but is not essential.
