We are currently looking for a College of Law PLT candidate seeking genuine practical legal experience and direct exposure to client matters.

We are also interested in hearing from graduate or recently admitted solicitors who are looking to develop broad practical experience in a busy legal practice.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to work closely with experienced solicitors and a partner of the firm and to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day conduct of legal matters.

For PLT candidates, the placement will provide supervised practical experience suitable for candidates completing their Practical Legal Training requirements, subject to the requirements of the College of Law.

Depending on current matters and your experience, you may assist with:

  • Preparing court and tribunal documents

  • Reviewing evidence and preparing chronologies, indexes and document summaries

  • Assisting with litigation and dispute resolution matters

  • Reviewing and preparing contracts and other legal documents

  • Preparing briefs and supporting material for court proceedings

  • Client and matter administration

  • General file management and progression of matters

Graduate and admitted solicitors may also have opportunities to communicate with clients, manage files under supervision and attend court or tribunal proceedings where appropriate.

Practice Areas

The firm's work may provide exposure to matters involving:

  • Commercial and corporate law

  • Commercial litigation and dispute resolution

  • Employment law

  • Property and commercial leasing

  • Immigration and administrative law

  • Wills and estates

  • General commercial and private client advisory work

The exact mix will depend on the firm's current matters.

  • Are currently undertaking PLT with the College of Law, or are eligible to commence their PLT placement

  • Have strong written and spoken English

  • Have excellent attention to detail

  • Are reliable, organised and professional

  • Have a genuine interest in legal practice and learning

  • Are comfortable using Microsoft Word and working with PDF documents

  • Can undertake legal research efficiently and communicate findings clearly

  • Are proactive and willing to take responsibility for assigned work

Second-language skills are welcome but are not essential.

For graduate or solicitor applicants, admission in NSW, or anticipated admission shortly, is preferred.

  • Supervised PLT placement

  • Direct partner supervision and mentoring

  • Genuine exposure to real client matters
