National Criminal Lawyers® is an award winning criminal law firm based in Western Sydney. Our firm regularly appears in complex and high profile criminal and traffic matters across New South Wales.

We are currently offering a Practical Legal Training PLT placement for a motivated and enthusiastic law graduate or final year law student seeking to complete the practical experience component required for admission in New South Wales or candidates willing to gain experience in criminal law. 

This placement provides a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in criminal law while working closely with experienced practitioners in a busy and dynamic legal practice.

Successful candidates will gain exposure to a wide range of criminal and traffic law matters and will be involved in various aspects of legal practice.

Key responsibilities and learning opportunities include

• Assisting with legal research and case preparation
• Drafting legal correspondence and court documents
• Attending court with solicitors where appropriate
• Observing client conferences and matter strategy discussions
• Assisting with file management and case administration
• General legal support to the firm’s solicitors

This placement is designed to provide meaningful practical experience and mentoring to assist PLT students in developing the skills required for legal practice.

Requirements

Currently undertaking or about to commence Practical Legal Training
Strong interest in criminal law
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and time management skills
Professional attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work both independently and within a team

Please note this is an unpaid placement for the purposes of satisfying Practical Legal Training requirements in New South Wales.
