Job Description

WilliamsonBarwick is a specialist employment & industrial law firm dedicated to providing strategic, client-focused advice and representation for employers and senior executives.  We pride ourselves on our proactive approach to workplace disputes, our expertise in industrial relations, and our supportive, collaborative culture. We are passionate about workplace law and take our work seriously, but not ourselves.

We are seeking a motivated, high-achieving Law Graduate (or someone recently admitted) to join our busy team. This is not a sit-back-and-observe role. You will be immersed in real matters from day one, working closely with senior practitioners to provide high-quality legal solutions.

This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in employment law, offering hands-on experience and excellent mentorship. If there is one thing you really need to succeed in this role, it is a passion for employment law.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting Documents: Assisting with the drafting of employment contracts, workplace policies, and other documents that support an employer’s workplace processes.
  • Legal Research: Conducting in-depth research on complex employment law issues.
  • Dispute Resolution: Assisting with litigated and unlitigated employment disputes.
  • Client Support: Taking instructions, preparing summaries, and attending client meetings.
  • File Management: Assisting with managing files from inception to resolution.

 What You Need to Succeed

  • Qualifications: A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or JD, and a completed (or near-completed) Practical Legal Training (PLT) program.
  • Passion: A demonstrated interest in employment law and industrial relations.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex legal advice in plain English.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Attitude: Proactive, eager to learn, and capable of working autonomously while knowing when to ask for help.

 Why Join Us?

  • Mentorship: Direct 1:1 mentorship from our Solicitor Director and our Senior Solicitor.
  • Growth: A tailored career development plan to move from Graduate to Lawyer.
  • Culture: A welcoming, energetic team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.
