Morgan + English Commercial Lawyers is seeking a Legal Personal Assistant to support one of our Directors, who leads our Workplace and Conduct team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with a senior leader, managing priorities, liaising with clients and team members, and ensuring the day-to-day practice runs smoothly.

This position is part-time (20–25 hours per week), worked across five days, and suited to someone with strong legal support experience who is seeking stable, consistent part-time work.

The Firm & The Role

Morgan + English Commercial Lawyers is a boutique commercial firm based in Balmain East, just minutes from the CBD by ferry, with a second office in the Upper Hunter Valley.

Our clients span agribusiness, mining services, food production, and transport. We are known for our practical advice and a team culture that is collaborative, values-driven, and people-focused.

In this role, you’ll support a Director through diary coordination, client communication, document preparation, and workflow management. You’ll be an essential part of a well-established practice area and a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Director’s calendar, coordinate meetings, and assist in prioritising time and workflow
• Liaise with clients and internal team members to ensure matters are progressing as needed
• Assist in monitoring the Director’s inbox and follow up on tasks and key deadlines
• Prepare and format legal documents, letters, and reports using firm templates
• Maintain file timelines and track key dates and deliverables
• Support billing processes including preparation of draft invoices
• Assist in coordinating internal team meetings and contribute to practice planning

Key Requirements

• Previous experience in a legal assistant, legal PA, or similar role within a law firm is essential
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Confidence working with legal documents and formatting templates
• Tech literate and experienced with legal practice/document management systems (e.g. LEAP)
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive, professional mindset
• Friendly, team-oriented, and confident liaising with clients and internal stakeholders
