About the Role
Judicial Registrar Freeman is seeking a legally qualified individual to be his associate.
This is a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria and to work closely with a Judicial Registrar undertaking an increasingly complex and active judicial function.
The associate will play a key role in supporting the Judicial Registrar's work across a wide range of case management and judicial decision-making responsibilities, including matters involving serious criminal offences, procedural rulings, and pre-trial applications.
Key Responsibilities
About You
You will have a demonstrated interest in criminal law and the administration of justice. You will bring excellent legal research and writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing demands in a high-pressure and paced environment. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to working in a judicial setting. A strong academic record is essential, and post-graduate legal experience is desirable but not required. Proficiency in grammar, computer literacy, professionalism, discretion and sound judgment are critical to success in this role.

The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.
