Lawyer - Family Law and Criminal Law (3-5 years PAE)

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Lawyer with 3 to 5 years' post-admission experience to join our team, working in Family Law, Protection & Care, Restraining Orders and Criminal Law.
We require you to commence immediately and to commit to full-time hours.
You will work on and be responsible for a range of tasks required in the operation of a busy law firm, including:
  1. independently managing a caseload across family law and criminal law matters;
  2. drafting and settling court documents, affidavits, submissions and briefs to counsel;
  3. conducting legal research;
  4. appearing in the Family Court, Children's Court, Magistrates Court and District Court of WA;
  5. liaising with clients, other team members and external stakeholders, including the DPP, Legal Aid and barristers;
  6. assisting in the supervision and mentoring of junior lawyers; and
  7. a range of other tasks as required.
You will need to hit the ground running and have:
  •  strong drafting and legal research skills;
  •  good time management, including attention to detail under strict time limits;
  •  an ability to communicate effectively with clients, other team members and external   stakeholders;
  •  sound advocacy skills, or a genuine willingness to develop them; and
  •  a 'can do' attitude.
A second language would be appreciated but is not essential.
