Purpose of Position The primary role of Legal Associates is to support and assist judges of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1), which is a Federal Court of superior record that exercises jurisdiction exclusively in Family Law.  Legal Associates assist in researching cases, points of law, preparing matters for hearing and other related matters for judges sitting at first instance and/or in Appeals. Legal Associates are responsible for providing assistance to judicial officers during court hearings and other administrative support to judges, as required.  In addition, Legal Associates perform court support duties. We are a small law firm located in the upper Blue Mountains and are looking for a law student or graduate to work in our Blackheath office initially for 3 days a week.  You will be required to work some of the time in the office and at other times remotely from home. The role is as a paralegal and the work will include conveyancing, leasing, wills and estates, family law and criminal law.  You will be assisting the partner in respect of maintenance and running files, including drafting and filing of correspondence and documents, court filing etc. Experience with LEAP legal software would be an advantage together with experience in any of the abovementioned areas of law.
