About the Role

We are seeking a capable and commercially minded Paralegal to join a mid-tier national law firm on a short-term secondment. The successful candidate will be embedded within the in-house legal team of a retail sector client currently managing a live product recall.

This is a hands-on role supporting legal and operational aspects of the recall process, with a strong focus on stakeholder communication, regulatory coordination, and documentation management.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the client’s in-house legal team and external counsel, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with consumer communications relating to the product recall (including reviewing and preparing correspondence)
  • Supporting communications with regulators (e.g. ACCC and other relevant bodies), including drafting responses and collating required information
  • Managing and organising recall-related documentation, including tracking incoming/outgoing communications
  • Assisting with internal reporting and status updates on recall progress
  • Liaising with internal business units (e.g. customer service, operations, compliance) to gather information and coordinate responses
  • Conducting legal and regulatory research relevant to consumer law and product safety obligations
  • Supporting the legal team with general administrative and paralegal tasks as required during the recall process

About You

You are a proactive and detail-oriented paralegal who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Prior experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal team
  • Exposure to or academic background in consumer law, product liability, or regulatory matters
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in drafting clear and accurate correspondence
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Confidence engaging with a range of stakeholders across legal and business teams

Engagement Details

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Duration: Approximately 3 months
  • Commitment: 4 days per week
  • Work arrangement:
    • 3 days per week onsite at the client’s Weste
