About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Paralegal or Practical Legal Training (PLT) student to join our friendly and supportive team.

This position provides hands-on exposure to a wide variety of legal matters and is ideal for someone who is eager to develop practical legal skills in a busy law practice.

Successful PLT students will receive meaningful supervision and experience across multiple areas of law that may contribute towards their Practical Legal Training requirements.

Responsibilities

Your duties may include:

  • Assisting solicitors with legal research
  • Drafting correspondence and court documents
  • Preparing briefs and hearing bundles
  • Liaising with clients, barristers, courts and government agencies
  • Managing files and maintaining accurate records
  • Preparing settlement and court documents
  • Assisting with conveyancing and commercial transactions
  • Attending court with solicitors where appropriate
  • General administrative and legal support
  • Using legal practice management software (LEAP experience is advantageous but not essential)
  • Assisting with AI-assisted legal research and document preparation

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Currently studying Law or undertaking Practical Legal Training (PLT)
  • Strong academic record
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Professional and client-focused
  • Willing to learn and take initiative
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team

Chinese (Mandarin) language skills are highly regarded but not essential.
